Hua Hin, Squid Row
1/22/2011 7:00 PM By  anonymous
While visiting a friend in Hua Hin recently we decided to head out to the lesser populated and toured areas to see if we could find an area of interest to photograph. We settled on a small area immediately outside the city where squid is fished, processed, and sold.

Viva Cuba!
1/8/2011 7:00 PM By  anonymous

Despite having been somewhat skeptical if Cuba would meet my travel needs and interests before going, I gladly found it exceeded my expectations in many ways. In fact I consider it one of the most fascinating countries of all the places I’ve ever travelled.

Samut Songkram Boat Yard III

I tried, with marginal success, to eliminate the effects of the haze, and if the images were taken individually you’d have a hard time putting your finger on it. But a series of images reveals the issues.

The Mekong River is the lifeline to many people and villages near the river. I almost didn’t see cars or roads near the river all the way until Louang Prabang.

Safari World Bangkok

Safari World Bangkok as regular readers and workshop clients know, is one of my favorite short day trips. There is so much to enjoy, yet the greatest story untold lurks beneath the surface.

Hanzhou China, West Lake

The central attraction is the “West Lake.” Walking the banks, dikes and causeways and seeing the sights is a wonderful way to spend a day.

Hangzhou China

Hangzhou is a very nice city in East Central China (Shanghai area). For more than a millennia it has been on the top of the “go to” list for well-heeled Chinese to go visit. It has traditionally been a place of learning, culture and beauty. It is often mentioned in the same sentence as another city, Suzhou and usually in the context of “Heaven on Earth”. That set some pretty high expectations.

This is the fifth part of my series in Mae Hong Son.  It started with “The Road To Pai” , continued with “Pai, About and Around Town” , moved on to “Lisou Village, Mae Hong Son”, with part four “Mae Hong Son Landscapes, And A Mid-Range Zoom”   published just last week.  Th ...

Mae Hong Son Landscapes, and a Mid-Range Zoom
10/23/2010 7:00 PM By  anonymous

The Mae Hong Son province is in my opinion the most beautiful natural area of Thailand.  If you haven’t visited the Mae Hong Son province then you really haven’t experienced the best Thailand has to offer.  There is much to the area, from refugee camps along the Myanmar border, rainforests, mountain ranges, and several ethnic villages providing a unique insight into Thailand’s past and perhaps even its future.
