A rainbow!  I was driving by the public airport when this nice rainbow appeared and I couldn't resist the temptation to stop and take a picture with the new Fuji x100 to explore it's limitations.  Personaly I'm finding the camera ideal for my personal needs, responsive, and it delivers a level of image quality well above that of many DSLR's.  Look at the crops below of the main image and check out the detail.  The lens is excellent as well.

The Fuji x100 has been the most highly anticipated camera in recent memory stretching back nearly 5-6 years.  I've talked about it in-length on this site and I've only recently received my own copy after a several month paid pre-order.  Copies are just now becoming available to those who haven't pre-ordered, but the accessories (hood, case, lens shade, extra batteries) haven't yet become available.

In any event, mine is here and I'm testing it to get enough of a feel to write a "First Look" article, and Digital Photography Review has just pubished their in-depth review. DPR reviews are universally first rate and I highly recommend reading the sections of interest.

Since I was stuck this Sunday I decided to take a drive up to Diamond Lake in a rental truck.  All the rental agency had was a Dodge Ram 4x4 Crew Cab and it turned out to be quite comfortabe.  I was thinking about going all the way to Crater Lake but snow started falling before Diamond Lake and I didn't have the legally required chains or the good sense required emergency equipment, so I made a quick stop at Diamond Lake Lodge and then turned around and headed home.

It was an unexpected pleasure to be able to text drive the x100's metering over snow, but it did very well in Aperture Priority mode by nailing th exposure within a quarter of a stop.  The white balance seems to be spot on as well.  More than pleased.  I'm working up to a decent "First Look" at the x100, but I still require some more time to learn this very different camera.

Power supplies are important to any electronic device, but especially for your computer.  When it comes to your desktop there is far more information available about power supplies than any consumer would want to keep up with.  This is why it's nice when someone taks the time to condense all this information into a cogent well organized format where you can learn and choose the PSU whihc is right for you with relative ease.  In other words, someone else is doing your homework for you.  In this regard this report on power supplies is such an article.  If yuo want to know more about why power supplies are important, which different grades are available, who makes which brands, and what other information to look for then I'd highly recommend you spend 5 minutes and browse through the introductory section.  Very well done!

I've been stuck in a smal town where I filled up my Cobra with what turns out was a batch of bad gas.  The bad gas trashed my injectors which are special order items due to their size and matching with the supercharger and Ford still hasn't been able to get the car running right since.  Maybe by next Monday.

So, a few more images from my one outing to the Oregon countryside.

I was out where I used to have my smal ranch today and enjoying the  country side views.  The weather was rainy and overcast, but I still enjoyed the drive and managed a few images. I found the Fuji x100 very user friendly and easy to use.  One exception was when I wanted to turn off AUTO ISO and had to go search for it in the menus.  I hope the next firmware revision makes this feature availale through the normal ISO selection menu.
