Nest Learning Thermostat, The Future is Here!
4/21/2012 3:41 PM By  BkkSteve

The Nest thermostat excites me because it’s a first practical glimpse of the future. I think back to when I was a kid and watching the Jetsons and I remember my mother telling me “in your lifetime..” Well, she was right. The future is here and it’s starting with the Nest Thermostat.

Intel 520 Series 240gb SSD Review
4/3/2012 9:10 AM By  BkkSteve

Bangkok Images is a huge believer in SSD’s (solid state drives). No single upgrade to your current computer, or part for your next computer build, is likely to have as much impact on overall performance as a proper SSD. I’ve already installed Intel’s 520 Series 240gb SSD’s in 7 custom workstation builds and every client is thrilled with the performance. I suspect it will be a good year before a SSD comes on the market which equals all this drive offers. This is the drive to get now.

Velodyne vPulse In-Ear Headphone Review
2/19/2012 10:37 AM By  BkkSteve

Every person who has tried the Velodynes has had the same reaction I did. It looks like they got hit by a taser, they stop responding and kinda shake all over, and a few minutes later they come around with that big grin. These are game changers.

Klipsch Image S4 In Ear Headphones
1/21/2012 10:54 PM By  BkkSteve

From the moment I listened to the Klipsch Image S4 In Ear Headphones I thought “these are enhanced the way I would enhance them!” I love the full rich sound and tight but controlled bass. And I can’t believe these retail at only $79.99. I could easily live with these as my main set of headphones.

Magic Jack Plus In-depth Review
12/22/2011 4:38 AM By  BkkSteve

This is where the rubber meets the road. The Magic Jack Plus has worked great, 100% in every way, since I installed it about ten days ago. Call quality is first rate, equal to a regular landline, and their services (call forwarding, directory assistance, 911, call waiting, etc, etc) all work as advertised. I have absolutely no complaints, no matter how hard I look.

Amazon Kindle Fire, Running Review
11/16/2011 8:37 AM By  BkkSteve

And let's be clear, it's not an Ipad. It's a $199.00 Amazon Kindle Fire. If you don't need the cameras, 10 inch screen, and 3G.. the Kindle Fire is without question the best deal going and sits alone from any competition.

Koutech RCM630 USB 3.0 Internal Card Reader
11/15/2011 9:18 AM By  BkkSteve

The price is downright inexpensive at $32, installation is standard and very easy, no extra drivers are needed, performance maxes out all of my flash memory cards, and it’s absolutely reliable over and over again.  What more could you want?

Day Trading PC Build
11/5/2011 9:47 AM By  BkkSteve

This is a great PC and not just for day trading. The case is very attractive, the system is mostly silent, and it can run 24/7 at 100% load without breaking a sweat. I’m confident it’s put together to a higher standard than you’re likely to find anywhere. Why? Because I take the time to design it right, and to put it together right. Then I test the heck out of it.

Seagate Expansion 3 TB USB 3.0 Desktop External Hard Drive, Review
10/5/2011 3:11 PM By  BkkSteve

I’m not seeing any downsides with this drive. It’s transfer speeds are right there at the top with its competition from Western Digital and Hitachi, the warranty is one year, and the price is as good as it gets. If you need a 3tb drive, either external or internal, the Seagate Expansion 3 TB USB 3.0 Desktop External Hard Drive is an very attractive choice.

Ordering a Amazon Kindle Fire?
9/29/2011 2:59 PM By  BkkSteve

At $199 I won’t worry if it gets scratched, or lost, or the battery goes flat right outside of the warranty period. $199 does that. It’s a kind of magic price that tells the buyer “so what, buy me..” $199 is the price that will finally result in serious competition for the Apple Ipad 2, 3, and 4.
